Well, if you'd like to see the paraguayan countryside, you can take this circuit, also known as 'Circuito Central'. It starts at Asuncion and then goes through:San Lorenzo-Ita-Yaguaron-Paraguari-Piribebuy-Caacupe-San Bernardino-Itaugua and back to Asuncion. I took last year and it cost me $45 (I bought it from a travel agent). It lasts for 7 hours and you drive through nice hills with hidden waterfalls and spas.
